God of War (2018) has been a huge source of inspiration for me, as a game developer. Given I'm a fan of the series since the PS2 era, I really like the change of direction for the franchise and have been inspired by the new combat system, especially the Leviathan Axe. I like how, this is not only a weapon but also a tool which can interact with the environment.

 

This is my attempt at mimicking this mechanic. I also wanted to make this as a programming challenge, so clocked the development time, which came out to be about 5 hours. I also created a very primitive 'Baldur' like AI to test this mechanic with, which tries to dodge the axe. I'm using a spline path for the axe return which gives me a smooth bezier curve, which I can customize. All characters and animations are from Mixamo.
